Why WordPress?

One of the questions I am asked most frequently during the discovery phase of my web-design discovery process is: why WordPress? Do you offer Squarespace builds as well?

The truth? I was once a Squarespace user. In fact, I spent a good 6 years building with Squarespace, before I jumped ship to WordPress, and here’s why:

Open Source Software

WordPress is unlike standard template sites (such as Squarespace & Wix – they come and go) in that it is open-source software – it can be used for any purpose, and it’s much more permanent. It is essentially an online CMS (content management system), but you can basically build anything with WordPress – you can dream it? It’s possible, with WordPress.

Design Freedom

Being open-source, that means, you can build from scratch, with a blank canvas. This is incredible for the design-minded, as we can practically build anything we can imagine, and we aren’t restricted by spacing issues (anyone who uses Sqarespace will know what I mean here) and template blocks.

Endless Customisation

With this freedom, comes endless options! Not only can we design and develop a completely unique website that functions well, but there are plugins for practically anything you can think of with WordPress. Client management systems, calendars, restaurant/hotel bookings, e-courses, e-commerce stores – if you can think it up, it’s likely you can implement it into a WordPress site!

SEO friendly

WordPress makes it easy to implement a really solid SEO foundation – there’s no denying WordPress offers the best SEO capabilities. There are many ways you can optimise your SEO, but WordPress allows a lot more freedom in controlling and implementing this than your basic template builders. If you hire a web-desiger/dev that understands how to implement this from the beginning, and you take their advice to continue working on it, you’re going to see it pay off down the track.

Optimisation

Every website should essentially be built twice – once for mobile & once for desktop. It is said that 57% of users won’t recommend a business with a poorly designed website for mobile – so this should be a huge part of your design process, and it’s this is made easy with WordPress.

Beyonce Uses it

I mean? Enough said, right? WordPress powers 34% of all websites worldwide! That’s pretty phenomenal.

Those are just a few of the many reasons that I choose to build with WordPress, if you have any more questions or concerns, feel free to contact me!
