Lost in Translation: Why Your Content isn’t Landing

You’ve been showing up. Posting. Talking about your offer. But instead of getting, “I need this!” you’re hearing… nothing. Nada. Crickets..
Or worse—people engage with your content, tell you how much they love your insights, and still don’t buy.
It’s frustrating, right? Well what if I told you, it’s not your offer that’s the problem. It’s the way you’re talking about it…
Too many entrepreneurs are stuck in vague, overused messaging, and I have to be honest – it’s BORING AF. If your content sounds like:
- “I help women feel empowered.”
- “This will help you step into your highest self.”
- “Get unstuck and gain confidence in your business.”
…then we have a problem. Because no one knows what that actually means!
The #1 reason your message isn’t converting? You’re explaining your offer the way YOU see it, not the way your audience needs to hear it.
Here are a few tips to help you connect with your audience clearly, so that conversions can actually start start piling up.
Speak in Their Words, Not Yours!
If you stop focusing on what you THINK is important and start speaking your clients’ language, it might sound like–
“Struggling to get consistent clients? I’ll help you clarify your offer, simplify your marketing, and finally make sales without the stress.”
See the difference? One sounds like a corporate mission statement. The other speaks directly to her audience’s real-life frustrations and desires.
Your audience doesn’t care about your “framework” or “methodology.” They care about what changes for them when they work with you.
Make Your Message Connect & Convert
1. Stop Selling the Process, Start Selling the Outcome
Your audience doesn’t wake up thinking, “I need a 6-month program with 8 modules and 5 coaching calls.”
Make your messaging about them and their transformation, not just what’s inside your offer.
Instead of: “This course includes 12 training videos and a step-by-step workbook.”
Try: “By the end of this, you’ll know exactly how to market yourself in a way that gets people saying YES.”
2. Make It Stupidly Obvious Who It’s For
If your messaging is so broad that anyone could technically buy, you’ll struggle to attract the right people.
Too vague: “This is for women who want to grow.”
Specific & compelling: “For coaches tired of content that gets likes but no sales.”
Too broad: “If you want more confidence, this is for you.”
Dialed in: “If you feel awkward selling your services, I’ll show you how to close sales with confidence.”
3. Speak to the Problem They Know They Have
One of the biggest mistakes? Trying to sell a solution to a problem your audience doesn’t even realise they have yet.
If you’re a gut health coach, your audience isn’t thinking, “I need to balance my gut microbiome.”
They’re thinking, “Why do I feel bloated and exhausted all the time?”
If you’re a branding expert, your audience isn’t thinking, “I need an extensive strategy and a compelling brand narrative.”
They’re thinking, “I’m so sick of my brand it feels bland and forgettable?”
Your messaging needs to meet them where they are—not where you are.
When your messaging sounds like real thoughts your audience already has, that’s when it starts working.
The Bottom Line is this –
Clear Messaging Converts, Confusing Messaging Doesn’t. Your dream clients aren’t ignoring you because your offer isn’t good enough. They’re scrolling past because your message isn’t hitting them where it matters.
Confusing messaging = lost sales.
Clear, direct messaging = an audience that instantly sees the value.
If your content is getting engagement but no conversions, it’s time to refine your message. Make it so clear and compelling that your ideal client reads it and thinks, “This is exactly what I need.”
